Why I love being a family photographer…

The best thing about family photography is seeing the love and connection between families. It’s always amazing to see how much everyone loves each other and how playful they can be even during ordinary moments.

It’s great to take a snapshot of children and parents in that particular moment of their lives because the children grow up so fast. You see kids giving nose kisses to their parents, and before you know it, they become teenagers! It is a time in their life that they never forget, and that particular afternoon is a moment captured in time that they will never forget.

One of my favorite things to do during these sessions is to let the children explore and see what they end up doing. I have often captured some great shots by letting the kids run free and seeing what they do out in nature. Parents, too, become very playful, and I’m able to capture so many great moments between them.

For these sessions, I like for clients to remain open and let things unfold during the session. I want them to feel natural and comfortable in anything we are doing. Although we do plan some things ahead of time, we also leave enough time to explore different things and let the children just be themselves in that particular moment. This is where I have captured some of the most magical moments during a family photos session!
